Easter in Brussels

Delicious chocolates
In Belgium it’s sometimes said that the Bells of Rome bring the Easter Eggs. The story goes that the bells of every church leave for Rome on “Silent Saturday” or “Stille Zaterdag” in Dutch, before returning on Sunday with eggs… chocolate eggs hopefully. And what better place to find delicious chocolate eggs than the home to so many chocolate shops, Brussels?

…a traditional Viennese Easter Market full of the holiday’s specialties such as the Osterpinze (a sweet-yeast Easter bun) the locals and tourist enjoy eating, as well as handicrafts to purchase. 47 different stalls will be set up for guests to walk around and admire (or sample!) bits of local tradition.

This year we reach a very important milestone that we want you all to enjoy. We celebrate the 225th anniversary of the Fair of Santa Llúcia (1786-2011, it is probably much older, but the first appointments are documented in 1786). With this motivation, both the Association of Saint Fair and the City Council have worked together to offer you the best fair possible.

PARIS XMAS MARKETS…Avoid the purely commercial train station variety, which you’ll see on your own if you’re traveling by rail to or from the city. Instead, here’s a breakdown of the most popular and higher quality open-air markets, and a few indoor choices if the weather isn’t conducive to a stroll.
